The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Anger About Sizing Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Modifications
Before the change, the measurements included one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said.
Required Changes
A different user, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
